About this role
A LITTLE ABOUT US incident.io http://incident.io is the AI software reliability platform trusted by engineering teams at Notion, Linear, Ramp and 2,000+ companies who can't afford downtime. The stakes are real, the talent is insane, and somehow it's a genuinely lovely place to work. We all pull our weight, go the extra mile, and put in the bit of magic most companies don't have time for, all while having fun and never taking ourselves too seriously. We've raised $100+ million from Index Ventures, Insight Partners, and Point Nine, and we're growing fast. There's never been a better time to join. THE ROLE IN ONE LINE Commercial AE is where incident.io http://incident.io's growth gets made real - you're in front of the most ambitious digital-native companies out there, and the deals you close show up in the trajectory of the whole business. WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE DAY TO DAY This is a full-cycle AE role with a strong outbound bias. Yes, inbound comes in - but the AEs who thrive here are the ones who don't wait for it. You'll own your own pipeline from the ground up, building target lists, running creative outreach campaigns, and picking up the phone without being asked twice. Outbound here is a craft, not a numbers game. You'll be selling into VP Engineering, CTO, and SRE leaders at some of the most forward-thinking digital-native companies in the world. Deals typically land in the $40k–$50k range with a clear path into six figures, and a sales cycle of around 45 days means you're moving fast and closing regularly. We run a pod model - you'll work closely with a BDR and Solutions Engineer rather than whoever happens to be free. That means real partnerships, shared context, and accountability that goes both ways. You'll also work alongside CS from early in the deal, which means handoffs that don't lose the thread. What makes the selling here different is the product and the story behind it. incident.io http://incident.io is an AI-native platform built by engineers, for engineers - our founders have been on-call, they've felt the 2am page, and they built something to fix it. When you're in a room with a CTO or an SRE lead, you're not pitching software - you're talking to someone about a problem they've lived, and you understand it. That's the edge. AEs here are AI-forward in how they operate - whether that's building business cases, running research, or finding smarter ways to work a territory. We expect you to bring ideas, not just execute a playbook. The progression is real. Commercial AEs have moved into Enterprise and into management - and we'll be straight with you about what the path looks like and what it takes to get there. WHO YOU ARE - You've closed deals at a similar size and pace before - $40k–$50k ACV, sub-60-day cycles - and you've got the numbers to back it up. - Outbound doesn't feel like a chore to you. You see it as a craft - you build your own lists, think creatively about how to get in front of the right people, and don't rely on a sequence template to do the work for you. - You're genuinely curious about what it's like to be an on-call engineer. Not just the technical side - the stress, the 2am pages, the pressure of being the person whose job it is to fix things fast. That empathy shows up in how you sell. - You can hold a technical conversation without leaning on your SE every time. You'll have support when you need it, but you're comfortable going deep on your own. - You're scrappy in the best sense - you don't wait for resources, you figure it out. A bigger company with more tools, more inbound, and more hand-holding would actually frustrate you. - You pick up the phone. Cold calling doesn't make you wince, and a voicemail doesn't derail your afternoon. - Startup life genuinely appeals to you - not as a stepping stone, but because you want to be somewhere your work is visible and your impact is real. SUPPORTING YOU We work hard and we think life outside work matters just as much. Our benefits pack is built to support both. - Market-leading private medical insurance. The proper kind, so you're never weighing up your health against a bill. - Competitive PTO. Showing up at your best requires switching off, and we make sure you have time to do that. - First Friday of every month off. Yes, seriously. - Enhanced 401k. We put real money in, because future-you deserves better than an afterthought. - Meaningful equity. We're rapidly scaling, and everyone who helps shape the outcome should share in it. - Unlimited AI spend. For everyone, not just engineers. We're all-in on AI across the company, and we expect you to be too. - Generous parental leave. The early days with a new baby matter more than anything we're doing here, and we want you to be present for them. - Two budgets that have your back. $1000 to invest in your setup, $500 a year to invest in yourself.
